MARÍA JOSE JOVE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE V INTERNATIONAL PLASTIC ARTS AWARD
Deadline:- THE AWARD IS WORTH 27.000 € AND THE JURY’S DECISION WILL BE KNOWN BY THE END OF MAY 2012
María José Jove Foundation announces the V International Plastic Arts Award 2012 which aims to encourage the dissemination of art and promote young artists. This is a national biennial contest, worth 27,000 Euros, which in previous editions stood out for the quality of the entries. Besides the prize money, the winning piece will become part of the Manuel Jove Art Collection, and its creator will be invited to join the jury in the following edition.
The V International Plastic Arts Award is open to artists under 35 years. As in the previous edition, the María José Jove Foundation remains committed to extending the award to an international level with the intention to recognize young talent from around the world. Also, the prize will once again be 27.000 Euros, and also includes additional funding for the acquisition of other works.
Each artist may submit up to two original works in the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and new disciplines, and freestyle. First, the works will be sent by email. From the works received, a selection will be made, and those selected will have to send the original version of the piece to the Foundation. The jury will then choose the winner from amongst these works. The jury will also make a selection of fifteen works to include in a catalog and be part of an exhibition that will be held at the María José Jove Foundation. The inauguration will coincide with the announcement of the winner: 31st May.
The jury of the V International Plastic Arts Award, chaired by Felipa Jove Santos, shall consist of various renowned personalities from the arts, such as Vicente Blanco, winner of the previous edition, Rafael Doctor Roncero, historian and art critic, Anton Lamazares, artist, and Iñaki Martínez Antelo, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vigo (MARCO). The jury will be completed with the presence of Marta Garcia-Fajardo, director of the María José Jove Foundation Art Collection.
